About two weeks ago, we were tour guides for two American friends who were here for short term work. We took them to the churches and the Kremlin to see the sights and they took us out to lunch. We went to "Papasha Billy" and it is supposed to be Texas food. :) It was decorated pretty well, with a bicycle outside for Brian and my home license plate inside!
Go Northwest!
And we went to the zoo again. :) So, more feeding of camels, llamas, buffalo, oxen, and cute little goats.
Then, onward to May 9th. Victory Day! The end of World War II. 1945. Russia really loves this holiday and we had four days free from responsibility and work. On the 8th and other days surrounding the holiday many people go to the eternal flame in our city (memorial for WWII) and leave flowers for those who died and fought. Our flame is inside our little Kremlin, old orthodox church in the background.
On May 9th, Brian and I headed to Moscow on the train to find my friend Anita and her travel partner, Pavel. More on that in the next blog.
