Icy Fingers

Our last day in Hallstatt, Wendy and I decided to have a little more mountain fun (why not when you are in Austria?) A nice cable car ride and before you know it, you are at 2,500 feet looking down at a cute little Austrian town. Our mission for the day: 1. Go to some ice caves. 2. Summit the mountain and walk out on "5 fingers" an apparatus that has glass bottoms so you feel like you are standing on nothing at 5,000 ft.

The view from the cable car, the towns are so cute you just want to eat them!

It can be quite scary descending into the dark cold ice caves of doom. So scary, you might just do this.
I love it when stalagmites and stalagmites meet. It is a long awaited journey where the one is searching for a soulmate; and then finally they meet. And it is beautiful.

So they had some artificial lights on the ice to give it this color, but nonetheless, they are still oh so pretty.
Here is 5 Fingers. Not for the faint of heart, or the height scared people. It stands at almost 5,000 ft above sea level and has a drop of about 2,700 ft.
Hanging out in the alpine fields looking down at Hallstatt and the lake. Not a bad way to enjoy a snack of carrot sticks and pretzels if I do say so myself.

What is that crazy lady doing on that apparatus? It seems that no one told Wendy it is supposed to be scary to stand on something that could send her plummeting to her early demise.
See this face looks a little more apprehensive than that crazy adrenaline junky Wendy.
Speaking of adrenaline, while snacking on carrots, we watched some para-gliders take off. We decided that this is the closest a human will ever be to feeling like a bird. So naturally we REALLY want do it. The question is Skydiving or Paragliding? Which one wins?
Enjoying a wonderful breakfast on the balcony. A great way to get going.
First off before I tell you that Wendy checkmated me, you must know that her chess skills can be summed up in one word: Trick little devil. Okay well it was three words, but she is deadly with here horses.
Wendy took this picture so you will look at the cute Austrian building, so what do you think? cute? Also if you look on the roof you will see little pegs that hold the snow on the roof so that it won't fall off until it melts. We thought it was a good idea.
