More Dead Sea and En Gedi

Who knows that the Dead Sea is 8.6 times more salty than the ocean? It is also at 1,388 BELOW sea level. The lowest elevation on land. Pretty cool. And you really do float easier than in any other body of water.

Trying to find fun ways to show everyone how easy it is to float! Here is our group, those who went in the water. Enjoying a little floating action.

Brian and I

After enjoying the Dead Sea we rushed to a cool place called En Gedi. Basically a wonderful oasis with waterfalls and some greenery. Really quite lovely. The bummer part: we only had one hour to get up the trail to see a few waterfalls before they were closing up the National Park.

Brian is the fish in the family and had to do a little swimming.

Part of the trail in. There was quite a bit of bamboo along the creek and trail.

Here is looking back down the trail to the Dead Sea in a distance. A beautiful view.

Another waterfall.
En Gedi is mentioned a few times in the Bible and is probably where David went to hide from King Saul
(1 Samuel 24). Definitely a place to spend a half a day or longer.
