Croatia to Slovenia

Zagreb, Croatia
We spent one night here and just a few hours walking the streets and enjoying the sights.

Church of St Mark, started in 1300's reconstructed in second half of 14th century.

I love this water fountain!

Zagreb Cathedral, the tallest building in Croatia.

Ljubljana, Slovenia
After a two hour bus ride we arrived in Ljubljana, Slovenia. A much smaller city than Zagreb and prettier in my opinion. Plus it has a castle on a hill in the middle of the city, more on that tomorrow.

We latched on to a free city tour to learn a bit about the city and the buildings.

Famous dragon bridge

Who can tell me what Brian is doing in this picture? Well, Slovenians found that the best way to distribute milk was through this "vending machine". Fresh, non-pasteurized milk. The farmers found that if they sold their milk to larger companies for stores they didn't make any money, so this is how they sell it instead. Pretty cool huh? Put your Euro in and out comes a Liter of milk. Or you can get just a glass full for a few cents.

Wandering around downtown. Each city we have gone to has had a walking street filled with cafes, restaurants and stores. A smart idea for any city we think.

The last part of the evening we got to listen to this duo. They had a professional photographer taking pictures, so I don't think it was a street show, but we enjoyed the one song we heard.

Tomorrow we will go to the castle on the hill and pick up our rental car. We will be trying out "couch-surfing" for the first time for the next two nights. Staying with a nice looking couple about twenty minutes outside of Ljubljana.
What is couch-surfing? An international website where you sign up to have people stay at your house for a night or ask to stay at someone's house for a night. A bit of an adventure, but we have had a lot of people tell us it is a great thing to do. A great way to meet locals who are interested in foreigners. I'm sure it will be a great experience!
