Watch out, amazing mountains ahead!

This is a long post, so be ready. Brian and I joke that the mountains really are so amazing they start to hurt my heart from all the beauty. But I survived...so far.
First off, just wanted to share the view from our apartment above the pizzeria. Nice huh?

Okay, on with a drive through the Triglav National Park. A crazy road that has 50 hairpin turns up to the Vrcic Pass, 6,000 feet up.

These hair racks are all over Slovenia. I think they are pretty cool looking. They aren't used as much anymore, I think they are a fire hazard, but are still nice looking.

Hairpin turn number 17. These roads were steep and curvy! and can you believe that a huge tourist bus came up here? We had to pass it on the road and it was a little nerve-wrecking.
Below is a picture of a little Russian church. Back during WWI, this was an important pass for the Austrians. They used over 10,000 Russian POW's to build this road. The conditions were terrible and there was an avalanche that killed over 100 prisoners. This chapel is in memory of those who died building the road.

Further up the road we ran into a few cows. :) Not literally, thankfully.

They were friendly enough though and didn't try to attack Brian. Personally, I would be a cow up here. It was some fine dining and a great view.

Next up: a hike. We parked and started up a trail that a few others were on. We didn't really know where it was going, but needed to stretch our legs and get out of the car. Can you find the trail in the picture below? and there are some very tiny hikers about in the middle-left of the picture.

Found some sheep. Not mountain goats like I would expect, but tame, friendly, sheep with bells on.

More trails, and my hubby climbing down some snow.
We reached our peak and were rewarded greatly. Funny as it was, the top was covered in sheep poo. Smelled like a barn up there. The sheep must like the view also.

My Brian, enjoying the nice, soft, green grass of a meadow.
Now, check out the next picture. It is by far, the best picture of the year so far.

Hiking back down to the car, we made it just in time before big, fat rain drops started falling.

I'm ending this post with a picture of a cool flower I have never seen before. This picture is for my mom, she would always take pictures of flowers when we hiked and I always was so impatient to get going and didn't really like to stop for her to take the picture. Well, now I take pictures of flowers. Ha, love ya mom. Thanks for stopping to take pictures of flowers.
