Exploring St. Pete

After posting yesterday Wendy and I went out for a night on the town. We caught the metro out to the other side of town and began to walk back. We were really craving some ice cream or something sweet, a few times I saw some chocolate cake things but Wendy kept saying "hold on just a little longer" and then we found it. All it said on the top of the door was "Блины" but I knew it was our oasis in the desert. Blini is little pancakes that are thin and doughy and come served with just about anything you want on them. They were exactly what we needed to supply us with enough energy to walk home.
OUR WONDERFUL BLINI WITH JAM AND HONEY ON THEM. THEY WERE SO HOT THEY MELTED OUR PLASTIC FORKS. BUT THEY WERE QUITE YUMMY!

On the way home we approached a large group of people standing around a street performer. We were curious to see what act was being performed and we were very amazed to find this...

It was a man playing 32 crystal glasses by wetting his fingers and rubbing the very edges of them. It would be amazing enough if he just played Mary Had A Little Lamb, however he was playing Fur Elise, and other Classical Favorites AT NORMAL SPEED!!!! We watched at one point he used three fingers on three different glasses at the same time to get harmonizing notes. It was really really cool.

Today it was off to Peter the Greats Mansion out in a town called Peterhof. We had a lot of fun and would absolutely say this is a must do in St. Petersburg. I (personally) felt like the mansion itself was overly extravagant and showed very well how out of touch the Tsars of old Russia were out of touch with the problems their country faced. The front yard was 102 hectacres and had about 10 gazillion fountains. It was the most fun part of the whole mansion and well worth the 400 rubles.

THE CHECKER BOARD FRONT DECK WITH THE SAMSON FOUNTAIN

THE VIEW BACK AT THE MANSION FROM THE RIVER FLOWING TO THE FINNISH GULF

THIS IS THE BALLROOM INSIDE THE MANSION, YOU AREN"T SUPPOSED TO TAKE      PICTURES BUT WENDY SNUCK THEM ANYWAY... I WAS SO PROUD OF HER FOR BREAKING THE RULES!!!!
WENDY AND I ON THE BACK LAWN IN FRONT OF A BIG FOUNTAIN
THE DETAIL GOES ALL THE WAY DOWN TO HOW THEY PLANT FLOWERS. WE THOUGHT THIS ZIG-ZAG SETUP OF FLOWERS WAS REALLY COOL.
